This Vanilla custard recipe is very easy and very tasty, just the right amount of sweetness. Everyone will love it. Read every step and enjoy!
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of thickened cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or vanilla past
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon of cornflour
- 1/3 cup of caster sugar
Combine milk, cream and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Cook for 5 minutes or until hot; do not allow to boil. Stir constantly. Remove from heat.
Whisk egg yolks, cornflour and sugar in a bowl until well combined. Mix hot milk mixture over egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
Return mixture to saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for 15 to 20 minutes or until custard thickens and coats the back of a metal spoon (do not allow custard to boil). Serve cold with fruit and coconut or powdered sugar on top.
